| Abstract |
In January/February 1980, the EPA assembled the 'EPA Recommended Practice for Evaluating, Grading and Labeling the Fuel Efficiency of Motor Vehicle Engine Oils' (Appendix 1). This procedure used the ASTM approach for carryover oils and incorporated four fuel economy grades for engine oils as well as a label for identification. In March 1980, the EPA initiated a testing program in accordance with the EPA recommended procedure, using two sets of test vehicles to evaluate the feasibility of the procedure. This report covers the results of that testing. |
