| Abstract |
A national emission standard for glass manufacturing plants is being proposed under authority of Section 112 of the Clean Air Act. The purpose of the proposed standard is to minimize glass manufacturing furnace arsenic emissions to the level which, in the judgment of the Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, provides an ample margin of safety to protect the public health. The standard will have the effect of reducing uncontrolled emissions of arsenic from these furnaces by about 90 percent. Environmental impact and economic impact statements quantifying the impacts of the proposed standard and alternative control options are included in the document. |
