Abstract Since the Brownfields Federal Partnership Action Agenda was announced in November 2002, more than 20 federal agencies dedicated to brownfields cleanup and redevelopment have committed their resources to help revitalize communities throughout the nation. The Action Agenda is a compilation of commitments, new initiatives, events, and activities that the participating federal agencies committed to undertake in partnership to help communities deal with brownfields and associated problems. While the process of cleaning up and reusing brownfields is complex, the positive benefits to reinvigorated urban and rural communities are numerous and substantial. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) continues to lead the Brownfields Federal Partnership effort by tracking the fulfillment of the original commitments and by highlighting the progress that has been made over the past two years. Of more than 100 commitments outlined in the Action Agenda, more than 75 percent have been or are in the process of being fulfilled. This report details the substantial progress that the federal partners have made over the past two years.
