| Abstract |
This report includes sections on: (1) fundamentals about odor formation, detection, and measurement; (2) step-wise improvement of process and odor control; and (3) interactions among facility, community, and regulatory authorities. It ends with: (4) a summary and rules of thumb, and (5) a list of odor-related research needs. Most of the information presented in the report was developed based upon sewage sludge composting odor control studies and experiences. However, many of the principles outlined herein are applicable to controlling odors originating from most any source. |
