| Abstract |
A comprehensive summary of the analyses required to layout a surface mine, taking into consideration the limitations imposed by geology, equipment, reclamation, economics, and environmental control requirements is provided. Methods, techniques, and alternatives are recommended for selecting and designing mining systems that include soil handling and storage, overburden removal, and minimization of environmental effects of drilling, blasting, off-highway transportation, coal loading, and steep slopes. |
