| Abstract |
The report describes an effort to define the expectations for benthic communities in nondegraded bottom habitats of the Chesapeake Bay. The specific objectives were to use existing data to establish expectations (restoration goals) for benthic communities in nondegraded bottom habitats of the Chesapeake Bay; develop an index that measures goal attainment; and identify areas in which future research may be helpful for refining, and decreasing uncertainty in, the identifed restoration goals. The report describes development of the Chesapeak Bay Benthic Community Restoration Goals, and a Restoration Goal Index (RGI) that can be used to assess whether goals are being met. The approach used to develop the goals and the index, and the results of analytical efforts, are detailed in Chapter II. A discussion of results and recommendations for the future are presented in Chapter III. |
