Abstract This is a gas chromatographic method optimized for the determination of selected carbonyl compounds in finished drinking water and raw source water. The analytes applicable to this method are derivatized to their corresponding pentafluorobenzyl oximes. The oxime derivatives are then extracted from the water with hexane. The hexane extracts are analyzed by capillary gas chromatography with electron capture detection (GC-ECD) and quantitated using procedural standard calibration.
