Abstract The new treatment manual groups pesticides into major classes such as chlorinated hydrocarbons, chlorophenoxy compounds, arsenicals, etc. Under each major class is listed the general chemical structure, pertinent toxicology related to poisoning, common symptoms, a method for confirmation of diagnosis, and the latest information on management and treatment of pesticide poisonings. The text is aimed mainly at physicians treating patients. However, it will also serve as a valuable reference to those who must evaluate the effects of pesticides on human health and investigators of pesticide accidents will benefit by having information useful to confirm pesticide poisonings.
