Abstract A summary of the Miami, Florida air pollution emission inventory is presented. The study area, which was chosen on the basis of the distribution of population and air pollution sources, consists of three counties surrounding the cities of Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, and West Palm Beach. This area had a 1968 population of 2,150,000. A grid coordinate system was used to show the geographical distribution of emissions within counties. The pollutants studied were: sulfur oxides, particulates, carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons and nitrogen oxides. All sources of emissions were classified into the following categories: transportation, stationary fuel combustion, solid waste disposal, industrial processes and evaporative losses.
