Abstract The report gives results of a review of the design of a reactor capable of gasifying approximately 50 lb/hr of biomass for a pilot-scale facility to develop, demonstrate, and evaluate the Hynol Process, a high-temperature, high-pressure method for converting biomass into methanol fuel. The report also discusses design modifications and gives preliminary results of operating the facility. Significant flaws in the initial design were discovered and corrected.
