Abstract Methods were developed for the routine determination of distillate and residual oil consumption by industrial, commercial, and residential consumers, as well as for gasoline and diesel fuel consumed by light and heavy duty motor vehicles. The resulting data are allocated to counties for input and storage in the National Emissions Data System (NEDS) area source format. In addition, seasonal fluctuations of fuel oil use by consumer category and geographic region, and references for determining sulfur content of fuel oils on a county basis, were analyzed. The report summarizes the methodologies that were developed and describes the computer processing techniques for reporting the data.
