Abstract |
The recent Earth Summit in Rio has once again focused world attention on the importance of climate, human and biological interactions. Under programs such as the Forest Service Global Change Research Program (FSGCRP), scientists are exploring and assessing a variety of forest resource production and management impacts stemming from increased levels of carbon dioxide, trace gases and changed climate. The discussion presents the general forestry community with a basic introduction to the way climate change predictions are obtained, and how they can and should be used to drive such studies. The intent is to enable readers to more critically review and evaluate the flood of forest resource and management assessments that will eventually be released through national and international programs such as the FSGCRP. |
