Abstract An analytical study was made to determine the speed of soil particles leaving hiller disks. Equations were developed to describe the influence of disk rotation, soil metal-friction and disk velocity on the path of the soil particles on the disk. Having the velocity and angle of departure of the particles from the disk it is possible to determine the duration of flight of the particles.
