Abstract A report is presented with the objective of identifying the 'State of the Art' of NOx emission reduction from stationary sources through combustion modification. This first part of a two part report deals with the control of NOx from utility boilers. The report presents information on sources of, and formation of nitrogen oxides. A total of five factors which effect utility boiler emissions are discussed in detail. A discussion of 'Combustion Modification for NOx Emission Control', includes the following topics: combustion operating modification, combustion equipment, design modifications, and flue gas treatment. (Author)
Highlights Notes Examines emission reduction through combustion modification by operating and design modification, flue gas treatment, and new equipment.
