| Abstract |
The report, which is generated by a computerized data base system, represents a survey of operational and planned domestic utility flue gas desulfurization (FGD) systems. It summarizes information contributed by the utility industry, system and equipment suppliers, system designers, research organizations, and regulatory agencies. The data cover system design, fuel characteristics, history of utility FGD operating status nationwide, and capital and annual costs for operating FGD systems. The development status (operational, under construction, or in the planning stages), system supplier, and process are tabulated alphabetically by utility company. Also included are highlights of FGD system developments during the period of October 1983 through September 1984. Current data for domestic FGD systems show 124 systems in operation, 25 systems under construction, and 68 systems planned. The current FGD-controlled capacity in the United States is 47,255 MW. |
