Abstract |
The design and operation of a unit that would sample storm water runoff from various environments on either a time proportioned or flow proportioned basis is described. The unit is self contained and automatic. It is operable under all weather conditions. An automatic sampler separately collects chemical and bacterial samples. An automatic tape recording precipitation gage mechanically converts the depth of accumulated precipitation during a given period of time. The operation of the unit is dependent upon a sufficient amount of rainfall to start the electrical and cooling systems and a predetermined amount of runoff to activate the sampling section. |
