The evolving class of air quality simulation models (AQSM) is becoming a useful resource for air quality analysts, meteorologists, engineers and others involved in urban and regional air pollution control. These models solve a numerical approximation to the advection-diffusion equation with the addition of source emissions, sink terms and often a set of chemical reaction terms. The work described here is an attempt to evaluate several numerical methods for the solution of the advection equation that also appear practical for integration into the structure of an AQSM. |
