Abstract | Data are compiled for man-caused accidents where there were ten or more fatalities, thirty or more injuries, or three million dollars or more in property damage for the period, 1953 through 1973. Data are also summarized in various classifications, such as transportation, hazardous materials, etc. A bibliography is included. Discussions are made of the limitations on use of the data, difficulties when comparing the data classes, and problems encountered in identifying voluntary or involuntary risks. This compilation may be quite useful as basic information for accident risk assessments. However, accidents caused by natural events are not included. |
