"The EPA-RTP Management Council and the Cutting Edge Speaker Series Committee are pleased to host Dr. Jory Weintraub. In his presentation, "Winning Science's Battle for Hearts and Minds," Dr. Weintraub will discuss empirical studies on why typical outreach efforts do not work, and provide strategies and approaches to effectively communicate even controversial science to diverse audiences. As the Science Communication Program Director with the Duke Initiative for Science & Society and a Senior Lecturing Fellow at Duke University, Dr. Weintraub teaches science communication courses to undergraduates and graduate students, and hosts workshops for Duke faculty and postdoctoral researchers. He has a BS in Biochemistry and Cell Biology from UC San Diego and a PhD in Immunology from UNC Chapel Hill."--Cutting Edge Speaker Series webpage |
