Abstract |
The use of solid wastes as raw materials for the production of useful products depends primarily on the successful application of chemical and engineering technology to waste disposal problems. The objectives of this study were to: (1) identify the chemical nature of the constituent of solid wastes, (2) investigate transformation process, and (3) conduct engineering and economic evaluation of pilot plant operations. The results of this study will be useful in the development of a solid waste chemical transformation facility, which will be capable of recovering waste generated from municipal, commercial, and agricultural sources for reutilization processes. This report was designed to provide the impetus for continued studies on reutilization processes rather than the culmination of a research effort. |
