Abstract | Research was directed toward obtaining information regarding air pollution effects on forests, parks, cemeteries, school and college campuses and residential ornamentals. The estimated exposure to air pollution was determined. An effort was made to assess the probable degree of damage on the basis of type and level of pollution, and sensitivity of the plant, shrub, or tree to damage. Efforts were made to confirm calculated losses to commercial crops in several specific locations. Tables showing the relative sensitivity of different plant species to oxidants, sulfur dioxide and fluorides were prepared. (Author) |
