Abstract | The paper discusses forecasts of emissions of sulfur oxides and nitrogen oxides for the electric utility industry to assess the impact of these emissions on the environment and the impacts of additional reductions that have been proposed. The U.S. EPA and the National Acid Precipitation Assessment Program (NAPAP) have each employed emission and cost projection models and have developed a set of model input assumptions for their deployment. The paper compares these alternative model input assumptions and discusses their influence on the projection results of the two primary models in use by EPA (The ICF, Inc. Coal and Electric Utility Model) and by NAPAP (the Advanced Utility Simulation Model). |
