Abstract | The report is concerned with the existing knowledge of selected trace metals in the water, sediments, and aquatic life resources of Lake Michigan and its tributaries. Information is presented on the sources of these metals i. e., industries, municipal sewage treatment plants, and atmospheric fallout. Metals reported on include cadmium, chromium, lead, nickel, zinc and others. Estimates of probable safe ranges for Lake Michigan fish are given and general recommendations made about future monitoring efforts, analytical methodology, and research needs. |
