Abstract |
This report contains the results of a project to assess the probable impacts of expected future development of Texas lignite resources. This multi-disciplinary, policy-oriented study considered possible lignite extraction and utilization options through the year 2000. The research team attempted to identify and characterize the major environmental, socio-economic, public health and institutional impacts which could result from this process and the policy issues created or aggrevated by these impacts. Alternative solutions to policy problems are outlined with probable consequences of each. Volume I contains Technical Analyses, including: evaluation of the potential for use of lignite, the likely siting patterns of lignite facilities, and the environmental and socio-economic impacts of lignite use. |
