Abstract | Based on a feasibility study, an improved rationale was developed which describes the temporal variability of daily and monthly streamflow sequences. Streamflow sequences are structurally expressed as the sum of mean flow, a selected number of harmonics as the deterministic component, and a time-lagged stochastic component. Mathematical models were examined for analogy with higher-order, damped differential equations. The models were compared to historic daily and monthly flow sequences of selected stations in the Truckee and Eel River basins. (Author) |
