The Office of Health and Environmental Assessment (OHEA) is primarily responsible for providing EPA with a central capability for evaluating information on the health effects of toxic pollutants and for ensuring the consistency and technical competence of the Agency's risk assessment work. OHEA prepares a variety of documents in response to requests from other EPA offices. These documents are used in support of regulatory and enforcement decisions. Until these decisions are made, many of the documents are available only through the program offices for which the work was performed. Among the examples of documents in this category are Health and Environmental Effects Profiles, Drinking Water Criteria Documents, and some assessments prepared for the Office of Pesticide Programs. A bried description of document types is provided below. The attached list of chemicals is a compilation of assessments prepared, or in preparation, in OHEA and cover the period from 1980 to 1986. |
