Abstract | The sources and emissions of air pollutants are outlined. Total emissions of oxides of sulfur, oxides of nitrogen, hydrocarbons, carbon monoxide and particulate matter are estimated. The emissions of these pollutants are delineated with respect to source type, season of the year, as well as their geographical distribution within the area. The estimates approximate conditions for the year 1967 as closely as possible. The study area included three Standard Metropolitan Statistical Areas; Milwaukee, Racine, and Kenosha. The addition of Walworth county to these three SMSA's made the study area coincide with the area designated by the State of Wisconsin as Region II. Information on 80 major point sources was gathered, emissions calculated, and located on a grid reference system. |
