Abstract | The horizon for environmental careers is vast and expanding. The restoration and protection of our environment will require an enormous range of specialists, from wildlife attendants to sanitary engineers, from operators of pollution control equipment to soil conservationists. The demand for various kinds of technicians, educators and researchers in this field, for example, is expected to reach 1.5 million in the next year or two. Employment opportunities in the environmental field are opening up not only in state and Federal governments but at the city and county level, in private industry, and in research institutions and laboratories. |
