Abstract | The study investigated the elements and conditions related to using land-grant university capabilities for environmental problem-solving and research. These elements and conditions included: the expressed needs of public and private environmental agencies, inter-agency difficulties, intra-university structure and public service traditions, integrative (inter-disciplinary) techniques, the faculty reward system, and organizational and funding formats for performing public service.
