Abstract |
The report describes the development of a two-component laser velocimeter system for measuring velocity in the flame zone of research-scale combustors. It includes results of a feasibility investigation to assess the practicality of making laser velocimeter measurements in a reacting, highly turbulent, highly luminous environment. Optical path stability was evaluated and spectral radiance data was obtained. The system design that resulted from this study employs a two-dimensional Bragg cell to enable entrained particle velocity and direction to be measured in two components. |
