The initial evaluation results are presented for 'off the shelf' computer software that may possibly contribute to a system which processes and outputs spatially related data for the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. Two sets of criteria were considered: 'Operational' criteria referring to the general hardware and software characteristics of a particular program, and 'functional' criteria referring to the actual logical function on tasks performed by specific software.
