Abstract |
This executive summary provides highlights of the fourteenth meeting of the National Environmental Justice Advisory Council (NEJAC), held November 30 through December 2, 1999 at the Hilton Crystal City at National Airport in Arlington, Virginia. Each of the six subcommittees met for a full day on December 1, 1999. The NEJAC hosted on November 30 a public comment period which focused on issues related to environmental justice and the issuance of environmental permits. The NEJAC also hosted on December 1 a second public comment period for general environmental justice issues. Approximately 400 persons attended the meetings and the public comment periods. The NEJAC is a federal advisory committee that was established by charter on September 30, 1993 to provide independent advice, consultation, and recommendations to the Administrator of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) on matters related to environmental justice. |
