Contents Notes | Simulation-based learning program designed to be used by professionals to practice and refine public outreach and community relations skills. This system was developed through a joint partnership between the US Environmental Protection Agency and the Institute for the Learning Sciences at Northwestern University, with support from the Lincoln Institute of Land Policy. The program consists of three simulated scenarios: 1. Evans Bay introduces the learner to a hazardous waste site clean-up where private and public sector needs collide. 2. Crystal Creek provides the opportunity to negotiate a charter between multiple stakeholder groups who have different interests in a western watershed. 3. Burnside places the learner in the role of coordinator/mediator in a politically charged scenario involving rising asthma rates in a big-city neighborhood. Scenario 1. Evans Bay -- scenario 2. Crystal Creek -- scenario 3. Burnside. |
