Abstract | Recreation use of the proposed Saylorville reservoir area, Iowa was studied through the use of a questionnaire, two automatic time-lapse movie cameras, direct observation, and a pneumatic car traffic-counter. Results from 436 completed questionnaires were obtained on fishing, motorcycling, hunting, boating, camping, and canoeing. Peak numbers of people and peaks of traffic activity were observed. Almost 87% of all waterfowl using the Des Moines River in the Saylorville area during the 2 years of the study were observed during spring migration in 1969. (WRSIC abstract) |
