Abstract | The report describes efforts made to monitor the leachate impact on the groundwater at the Lexington County, South Carolina Landfill. The geology and hydrogeology of the region, as well as the landfill in particular, are discussed in detail to help determine the movement of groundwater near the landfill. The purpose of the report was to isolate the groundwater effects of a nearby abandoned site, Cayce Dump. Fourteen stratigraphic test holes, six monitoring wells, and three existing wells were used for groundwater monitoring. |
