Abstract |
Overflows from combined sewers during storm events result in the discharge to receiving waters of untreated sanitary sewage, which also may contain pre-treated industrial wastewaters and untreated stormwater. Combined sewer overflows (CSOs) contain pollutants that are present in the domestic and industrial wastewaters, as well as those in the urban stormwater runoff that enters the combined sewer system. The manual provides information to assist in selecting and designing control measures for reducing pollutant discharges from CSOs. The manual will be useful for municipal public works staff, design engineers, and regulatory agency staff tasked with the development and review of facility plans and long-term CSO control programs. |
