Abstract | On February 7, 1992, representatives from western governors' offices, western water managers and practitioners, and local officials met with congressional and federal agency staff for a dialogue on wetlands and water quality protection in the West with an eye towards the reauthorization of the Clean Water Act (CWA). Representatives from environmental groups and business were also in attendance. Together the group explored unique characteristics of the West which may have implications for how the West can meet the goals of the Clean Water Act. Discussion was structured around six subject areas: the quantity/quality interface, wetlands, ephemeral streams, nonpoint source pollution, water reuse and water efficiency and stormwater. |
