The paper describes the work being conducted at USEPA's Test and Evaluation Facility involving the treatment of metal finishing hazardous wastewaters. This work is part of a comprehensive program supporting the demonstration, testing and evaluation of treatment process which have the potential to be utilized to meet the forthcoming requirements of the land disposal restriction of the HSWA, 1984. A variety of unit treatment processes have been fabricated to offer BDAT (Best Demonstrated Available Technology) in treating hazardous, aqueous metal waste streams. These unit processes include lime precipitation, flocculation, clarification, sulfide precipitation, mixed media filtration, ion exchange, and granular activated carbon adsorption. The results of the first three test runs will be presented. |
