Abstract |
Government agencies are increasingly concerned with radioactivity concentrations in the environment. Measurement of radioactivity is complicated by such factors as the calibration standard used, sample preparation, and self-absorption. To examine these complicating factors, the Analytical Reference Service undertook a series of studies to evaluate methods for the determination of radioactivity levels in environmental samples, to stimulate interest in improvement of laboratory performance, and to point out errors in the use of analytical procedures. |
