Abstract |
The water supplies of three state institutions serving approximately 800 individuals in Florida have been continuously iodinated for a period of more than two years under the most careful chemical, bacteriological and physiological controls. One of each of four inmates was selected for medical and physiological tests, a total of 149 subjects. The studies indicate that iodine is fully as effective as chlorine for the disinfection of public water supplies and that it possesses a number of advantages over chlorine when used for that purpose. |
