Abstract |
The physical oceanography and surface wind structure of the Gulf of Alaska and waters adjacent to the Pacific Coast of Alaska are briefly outlined. The information is then used to evaluate efficacy of the rather arbitrary 50-mile International Agreement Zone inside which vessels are prohibited from discharging oily ballast waters and slop oil with a concentration greater than 100 ppm.
