Abstract |
The sewage disposal system at Ketchikan, Alaska discharges raw sewage directly into the adjacent marine waters of Tongass Narrows. The purpose of the study was to document the bacteriological water quality of Tongass Narrows with respect to the effects of raw sewage outfalls from the city of Ketchikan, Alaska. The study was limited geographically to the section of Tongass Narrows between Ward Cove and the Ketchikan U. S. Coast Guard Station. The study was conducted May 7 through May 12, 1969. This time period was selected to avoid possible influence from fish processing wastes discharged to the area later in the season. (Author Modified Abstract) |
