Abstract | The Kellogg-Deering Field is owned and operated by the Norwalk First Taxing District Water Department (NFTD). The primary source of public water supply to the NFTD is surface water from four reservoirs, with ground water as a secondary source. In 1975, trichloroethylene (TCE) was discovered in the ground water. Other identified contaminants include: PCE, 1-2-DCE, methylene chloride, xylenes, and benzene. The selected remedial action for this site involves air stripping of the contaminated ground water and subsequent discharge into the existing conventional water treatment plant and distribution system; and air and ground water monitoring. |
