Abstract
This report presents a survey of discrete spectral and pseudospectral numerical methods to simulate atmospheric flow and turbulent diffusion. Some applications of these methods to air quality simulation modeling are presented. A three-dimensional spectral incompressible numerical model is described in detail. Computational resource limitations precluded successful evaluation of eddy Austauch coefficients. Some numerical results are presented for the rate of relaxation of anisotropic flows. Recommendations and suggestions for further research are made concerning the prospective utility of these spectral methods for air quality simulation modeling.
