Abstract
The Halogenated Organic Subcommittee evaluated the document, and the conclusions and recommendations are as follows: the document presented the strength and weaknesses in a balance manner, the Addendum should place greater because of the number of apparent negative as well possibility of a apparent compound is a tumor inducing agent and the genotoxic information. The overall weight of evidence lies on the continuum between the categories B2 and C of EPA's risk assessment guidelines for cancer. The Subcommittee's major concerns with the Addendum, is that the relatively moderate tumor responses and the uncertainties regarding most of the assumed endpoints are not adequately presented. The committee concluded that the trichloroethylene has the potential to cause cancer in humans, but its potency is low.
