Abstract |
The report documents the U.S. preparedness to deal with a catastrophic oil spill. The plan represents an agreement among concerned Departments and agencies of the Federal government for a pattern of coordinateed and integrated responses to pollution incidents. The objectives of this plan are to develop effective systems for discovering and reporting the existence of a pollution incident, promptly instituting measures to restrict the further spread of the pollutant, application of techniques to cleanup and dispose of the collected pollutants, and institution of action to recover cleanup costs and effect enforcement of existing Federal statutes. |
