Abstract |
The need for this course comes from the Water Pollution Control Act of 1972 and the 1978 amendments to it (PL 92-500 and PL 95-217, respectively). Although federal, state, and local governments have spent large amounts of money on sewage treatment systems, many new plants and upgraded existing plants still do not meet discharge permit limitations. The authorities are beginning to recognize a need for plant operators trained in process control. Until now, training for operators have concentrated on maintenance aspects. Maintenance by itself is not enough to guarantee good performance. It goes hand-in-hand with control over the process. This course is designed to meet the need for operators trained in control techniques. |
