The Department of Energy (DOE) Office of Health Environmental Research sponsored an Atmospheric Tracers Workshop in Santa Fe, New Mexico, May 21-24, 1984. The objectives of the workshop were to summarize the status of atmospheric tracer technology; provide an information exchange forum for members of the atmospheric community; define areas for future application of tracers; and identify requirements for new tracer techniques. The workshop opened with a series of invited overview presentations on state-of-the-art tracer systems and/or atmospheric tracer applications. These presentations formed the basis for discussions in five working groups dealing with dry deposition and resuspension, global scale tracer applications, acid precipitation, natural sources of acid precipitation and organics, and regional air quality. The summaries of the discussions, the discussion group recommendations, and the overview papers are included in this proceedings document. |
