Abstract | The purpose of this research is to formulate an experimental method which can predict yield loss of crops grown under naturally varying sulfur dioxide concentrations. A model for simulating realistic fluctuations in SO2 air pollution is developed. This model is used to define an experimental method, using exposure chambers, which can establish functional and probabilistical relationships between yield loss and median SO2 concentration. This stochastic experimental design is offered as a viable alternative to traditional long-term fixed concentration experiments. |
