Abstract | In its continuing water quality studies of the Potomac, the Chesapeake Technical Support Laboratory found it necessary to systematically and accurately define the physical characteristics of the estuary. Factors of major importance are: surface and cross-sectional areas, volumes, and distances between bridges, buoys, prominent landmarks and other reference points. This type of data is not only essential for mathematical modeling studies but also to interpret field survey information. |
